Michael Skubala is excited to return to the LNER Stadium in only his second home game since his appointment.
City have been in strong from on the road in league action, but the head coach is eager to get back into the home dugout and for his side to react positively to midweek’s setback.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back on the home pitch and I know the lads are excited for it too. They have felt it going away from home a lot recently, so they have been eager for this one.
“We need to be on it, ready to go, and show a good account of ourselves. Hopefully we will show improvements in the final third and be better with the ball than we were last week.”
Skubala is aware of the test facing his side on Saturday with the Royals coming into the fixture on the back of a draw with high-flying Oxford United.
He added: “They have a good coach in Reuben Selles who is someone I know from his Southampton days. He has a tough job at the moment but Reading are a team that can really hurt you.
“They have picked up recently in the last couple of games. They have turned a corner and are on an upwards curve after a good draw against Oxford which is not easy. It shows the level they are at and the competitiveness of this league.”
