Mark Kennedy is looking forward to Tuesday’s trip to Notts County in the Carabao Cup as the games come thick and fast at the start of the season.
City enjoyed a good run in the competition last season, and Kennedy is taking it one game at a time in a busy period of fixtures.
He said: “What we want after Saturday is a game, and an opportunity to go and put a win on the board.
“But we play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday when the players are the least fittest and most vulnerable, which doesn’t help or support clubs.”
The Imps were edged out in the opening game of the Sky Bet League One season at promotion favourites Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
Kennedy added: “No one wants to lose games, but we conceded at set-pieces and and an own goal. We never expected to dominate the game, but there were some really good moments.
“I was quite happy to give up possession in front of their own goal and our goalkeeper Lukas Jensen didn’t have a lot to do, but we learn from the individual mistakes which cost us.”
