Ethan Erhahon is aiming to make the LNER Stadium a difficult place to come this season and use it as a platform for success throughout the campaign.
Wycombe Wanderers provide the first home test of the new season as Mark Kennedy’s side will be looking to back up a positive result in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
Erhahon said: “We want to make our home a fortress. The stadium has a great atmosphere, we enjoy playing in front of our home crowd and it’s a hard to place to come.
“There’s nothing better than the opposition fearing coming to play at your home ground. We know we’ll get the fans behind us and that will help us to try and pick up as many points as we can.”
Erhahon is relishing the competition in midfield, with new signings Ali Smith and Ethan Hamilton joining in the summer, and he hopes it will help the team push on and keep everyone playing at the highest level.
He said: “I think there’s good options there, you need squad depth and competition to push everyone.
“We want to push each other and that will help us move up the table.”
