Harry Boyes is eager to add to City’s current win record in Tuesday evening's clash with Barnsley.
The defender is determined to put in a good display for the City supporters against his hometown club, as well as his friends and family who will be watching from the stands at the LNER Stadium.
He said: “I have got quite a few people coming to the game. Barnsley are a team who are up there and fighting for promotion so it will be a tough match. We seem to do well at home against the bigger sides, so hopefully it’s a match we can get all three points in and secure another clean sheet.
“I wasn’t a Barnsley fan growing up but everybody I went to school with was. I played them earlier on in the season and got a lot of comments from people heading to the game. It does seem a bit strange growing up with Barnsley fans and then playing them. I would love to score knowing the mates you grew up with will be watching.”
Since arriving in Lincoln, Boyes has been particularly impressed with the City supporters who have turned out in their numbers and hopes this continues for the remainder of the campaign because of the big influence they have on the team.
He continued: “I think the fans have had a massive impact. I feel like that’s one of the most surprising things since I have been here because Lincoln is not the biggest place but the supporters always turn out in their numbers for every home and away game.
“Knowing you have got them behind you is huge. Plymouth was a very long journey and we owed it to them to put in a good performance. They sold out the home end but you could still hear our fans. There’s no better feeling than going over to them after the game once we have won.”
