Jay Benn is eager to fight for his place in the team after making his City debut.
Having made his first start for the Imps, Benn is excited by the project and eager to continue his progress throughout the season ahead.
He added: “I understand my age and that it was a big jump coming from the National League. The project which was sold to me is a big reason why I came to the club.
“I want to improve and I want to get better, and this seems like the right place to do it. I have got to take every game when it comes and when the opportunity is there, I need to make sure that I play well and that I am ready.”
Benn made his first City appearance in Tuesday’s 3-0 win against Barnsley and has spoken about his desire to get more minutes for the club.
He said: “It was fantastic to make my debut on Tuesday. I really enjoyed the game and it was good to get the win.
“Every footballer wants to be out on the pitch and show what you can do. I knew coming in that I would have to fight for a shirt and Tuesday was the opportunity to do that, so I hope I took it.”
