Adam Jackson was delighted with the defensive display from his team-mates as City won at Portman Road for the first time since the 1950’s.
The defender helped the Imps earn a second clean sheet in as many games with a Man of the Match performance at high-flying Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “From top to bottom, everyone on the pitch was unbelievable. It was a great shift, especially in that second half when there was a bit of an onslaught. We did not give up and I think we deserved it in the end.
“Ipswich were getting a lot of shots away from the edge of the box but we had a lot of men around the ball and we made it difficult for them to score. We defended really well and the lads from the front did really well too.”
Jackson also praised the character of the team to overcome the pressure from Ipswich and expressed his delight for the travelling supporters who cheered them on to victory.
He continued: “Sometimes you get a bit more of a buzz as a defender when you are under pressure in front of a big crowd. We have good characters in the squad. To come to a place like this with 27,000 and stand strong for the full 90 minutes says a lot about the group.
“A 1-0 win away from home is lovely. The head coach mentioned that a fan had travelled all the way down from Edinburgh. There were also a lot from Lincoln and everywhere around the country, so it is brilliant to reward them with a good day out, and hopefully they enjoyed it.”
