Ash Foyle was happy with the character his side showed on their way to a fourth-straight league victory.
The young Imps battled their way to another three points on Saturday, beating Rotherham United U18 3-2 at home.
He said: “The game started to drift away from us in the second half but the lads showed good character to keep probing and pushing for a way back into the game.
“We created a few more opportunities before forcing an own goal. After that, we then held the momentum and capitalised through Kyrell Wheatley who scored the winning goal late on.”
Foyle is now looking to bring this positive momentum into Wednesday’s FA Youth Cup clash against Doncaster Rovers at the LNER Stadium, and hopes that the City supporters will be there in force to get behind the team.
He added: “Overall, this probably turned out to be the ideal game to prepare us for our FA Youth Cup game on Wednesday night as we had to deal with a lot of pressure and direct play, whilst ultimately finding a way to win a game.
“The lads are in good form going into the game so hopefully we can get a good crowd to come and support us. If it will be like most of our recent league games, then they will get good value for money.”
