After joining the Imps from Vanarama National League outfit Eastleigh in January this year, City forward Ben House is the first to admit it took some time to become accustomed to life in Sky Bet League One.
The versatile 23-year-old featured six times during the 2021/22 season, but after settling into life in Lincolnshire, has notched four times already this campaign whilst leading the line on a consistent basis for the Imps.
House said: “I still think the game is very quick, and there is a lot going on in the game that you need to be aware of, be that the opposition or where to run.
“That said, I am definitely more settled at this level now than I was before, and it is just about bettering my game which is on me and is something I can work towards.”
The desire to improve is at the forefront of House’s aims for the season. Despite having personal figures for goal contributions, his ambitions for the year are driven as much by gametime as they are by statistics.
House added: “I have figures I’d like to achieve because everyone sets their own personal targets, but also the gametime and getting the experience and minutes I need to better myself are just as, or if not more important, than the statistics.
“It’s hard because each game and each defender is different so it is tough, but if I can be better in my all-round game, then that will stand me in good stead for the rest of the season.”
