City’s Sean Roughan is relishing his run of games in the starting XI and enjoys the defensive side of his game.
The Republic of Ireland U21 international also says the experience of the likes of Regan Poole beside him have been a significant help in his continued development.
Roughan said: “I enjoy defending and that is why I became one. You’ve seen Regan celebrating blocks, and that’s just what you love doing as a defender.
“I’m always learning, and Regan has helped so much. He demands high standards but having that experience beside me has been great.”
The 19-year-old has also credited Jamie Robson for his solid form as he believes the Scotsman has spurred him on through consistently high performance levels in training.
Roughan added: “He has pushed me every day in training, he’s been unbelievable and that’s what makes you push that extra yard harder. At the end of the day that’s football and it’s good for you as player.
“I just keep making sure my standards are high, but I know I can keep kicking on and having someone breathing down your neck always keeps you out of your comfort zone. You always look at the marginal gains and how you can improve, and that’s what has pushed me even more.”
