Regan Poole says City will not be short of motivation for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup trip to Bristol City.
The Imps bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday - the first competition they have been knocked out of this season. Poole believes there are still foundations for a good season as his side compete in the knockout stages of the Carabao Cup and Papa Johns Trophy.
He said: “We are still in a strong position, and although the result against Chippenham is really disappointing, we will be looking to go and win on Tuesday and bounce back as soon as possible.
“If we had won against Accrington on Tuesday we would have been up to ninth in the table.”
City controlled possession for large parts of Saturday’s game at Chippenham Town, but could not find a way back into the game as a Max Sanders strike was harshly disallowed, the woodwork was rattled and the home side threw everything in front of the ball.
Poole added: “We can have all the possession we want but if you do not put the ball in the back of the net, it does not matter.
“We have been really good defensively over the past few weeks, but we have not scored many goals and that is something we are looking to improve.”
