City Women bowed out of the National League Plate after suffering a narrow 3-2 loss away at Northampton Town.
Holly Mayfield in the Northampton goal was kept busy thanks to efforts from Maddi Green, Jess Rousseau and Lucy Farrow.
Northampton had several runs ruled offside before finally hitting the back of the net. Alex Dicks picked up the ball from Abbie Reboul and beat Lana Timson.
City almost equalised immediately after through Farrow who was denied by Mayfield.
Around the hour mark, Katie Williams came on for Toni McHamilton, allowing Farrow to move into a more attacking position as City looked to threaten more.
Moments later, Abi Ringrose picked the ball up on the edge of the box and drilled a shot into the far top corner.
Despite continuing to dominate after the leveller, it was the hosts who scored once more, this time through Beth Artemiou.
The Imps fought back to equalise yet again, and it was courtesy of Lucy Farrow who slid the rebound in after Amy Kay crashed her long range effort off the crossbar.
Less than a minute later, a lapse of concentration gave the hosts their third goal of the afternoon.
A free-kick found its way onto player of the match Favour Okenazu who headed down into the net to secure the win for Northampton Town.
