Mark Kennedy and his squad are happy with their current standings after a “solid” start to the season.
The Imps currently sit ninth in Sky Bet League One and are set to take on Morecambe in the Papa Johns Trophy in the round of 32, with a trip to Southampton scheduled in December in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
Kennedy said: “We are really happy with where we are, but we’re not getting carried away.
“We have had a solid start to the season, but are only focussed on keeping our feet on the ground and not getting carried away. For me and the team, it is all about taking one game at a time.”
The Imps enter Tuesday evening’s fixture against the Shrimps having beaten the Lancashire side just three days prior, with City’s head coach comparing the upcoming encounter to a “boxing match”.
Kennedy added: “On any given day Morecambe could beat us and vice versa. I thought they played some good football through periods on Saturday so I’m expecting as tough a game as any.
“It feels a bit like a boxing match, in the sense there are absolutely things you could take from your last performance against the same opposition. We’ll focus on ourselves, but I think it’ll be a tough game and I don’t think there will be much in it.”
