Ash Foyle’s side beat Hull City with an impressive 6-0 win, extending their unbeaten run in the process.
The young Imps secured three important points in the group stage of the U18 Professional Development League Cup on Saturday, where Osei Boffah, Denny Oliver, Tayo Tucker and Julian Donnery found themselves on the scoresheet, with Tucker and Donnery scoring twice.
Foyle said: “We went into the game knowing we needed a convincing win in order to have any chance of progressing through the group and the lads executed it brilliantly.
“We were on the front foot from minute one and played with intensity and aggression that Hull struggled to deal with. We were ruthless in front of goal and if not for a few good saves we could have had more.
“We managed to restrict Hull to a few free kicks and corners which I thought we dealt with really well.”
In the later stages of the match, Hull had a player sent off and Foyle was pleased with how the players kept on pushing.
He said: “The game was in danger of drifting into nothing, but the lads did well to keep their foot on the gas and continue to turn the screw.
“Hopefully our other results will see us qualify through the group and into the knockout stage and we can look to continue our good run of form.”
