Oisin Gallagher is happy with the character shown by his team-mates to overcome Tranmere Rovers in extra time.
The young midfielder has described the win as a “great feeling” after captaining the young Imps to a 4-2 victory on Wednesday night in the FA Youth Cup second round.
He said: “It is a great feeling to get through, but at the same time, it probably wasn't the performance of our standards.
"We came back out after the break and I think the mentality was definitely a lot better in terms of wanting to win and wanting to defend."
Gallagher commended how his team-mates coped with the pressure of extra time which has seen them progress into the third round of the competition.
He added: "Extra time is always tough but it's always down to the mentality. The boys got through it, so fair play to them.
“We will look to improve in the next round as it needs to be better than what it was against Tranmere. We are all buzzing and thankfully we have got there.”
