Ash Foyle praised the battling performance as his side held on against Bradford City U18 to earn back-to-back wins.
Kyrell Wheatley scored the only goal of the game as City U18 saw off Bradford City U18 in the league on Saturday.
Foyle said: “It was a very hard-fought victory. We were suffering from the physical effects of Wednesday’s FA Youth Cup match, but the lads dug in and found energy reserves they probably didn’t know they had.
“The second half was full of tired legs and minds but we managed to score an excellent goal through Kyrell Wheatley.”
Foyle also credited the way his side remained focused in the latter stages of the game to see out the win.
He added: “We did show some signs of naivety towards the end of the game and needed Sam Green to make an outstanding save in the dying moments to keep us ahead. Overall, I am really proud of how the team ground out the results and put their bodies on the line.
“We haven’t had many results like this, so for it to come in a moment where everyone is at the bottom of their energy tank and against an excellent team, is a really good sign.”
