Imps U18s suffer defeat on the road

Ash Foyle says there are lessons to be learnt after the Under 18's suffered a 2-0 defeat to Rotherham in the Youth Alliance League.

City went into the half time break 1-0 down having gifted the opposition an opportunity in the 18-yard box. City went on to end the game with nine men after having two players sent off in the second half.

Lead PDP coach Ash Foyle said: "Strangely we were better when we went down to 10 men and even with nine we still controlled the game, despite having gifted them another goal.

"This is an important lesson for the lads to learn as we had to deal with a lot of direct play and try and find a way through them under lots of pressure. There were factors outside of our control but the lads showed good character and stuck to our principles even with fewer numbers.

"We, hwoever, need to learn fast that can’t afford to get ourselves into positions like this and the lads will have to deal with games like that further into their careers."
