Fiorini says confidence is high

Imps midfielder Lewis Fiorini says confidence among the squad is the highest it has been all season after a spectacular start to 2022.

Back-to-back wins against Oxford United and Sunderland mean the Imps have a 100% winning record since the start of the calendar year.

Fiorini said “The mood is as good as it’s ever been and has the best feel about it since I’ve been here.

"We’ve got to build on this because it’s the first time we’ve had real momentum and we’re playing the best we have all season.”

Fiorini feels he has progressed during his loan spell, and feels the team’s upturn in form has coincided with his own improved performances.

He added: “This league has bought me on loads. I’m feeling a lot better over the last four of five games, getting back to where I want to be, and the team is going on the same way as well, so it looks good for the rest of the season.

“It does suit me more playing with natural wingers. I’ve played out there myself, I don’t mind it and I like how the gaffer trusts me to play in these different positions. But I do think my game is best suited in the middle and that’s where I’m more comfortable.”
