Michael Appleton is pleased with how his side create chances and get into attacking positions but knows how important it is to have that finishing touch.
With injuries to the backline causing selection dilemmas for much of this season, Appleton feels a regular back four heading into the remainder of the season will help to produce more positive results.
He said: “We certainly create chances and get into fantastic areas as we did against Doncaster which is a great example. All it takes is one opportunity from the opposition and you can lose the game.
“The back line has been a sore point for us all season in terms of injury. It would be nice if we could have four or five games on the trot with a similar back four. The stronger we are from the base gives us a better chance to keep a clean sheet.”
The boss respects the quality in Ian Evatt’s Bolton squad and expects a battle at the University of Bolton Stadium on Tuesday night.
He added: “When you’re in the form they are in and you win a game as emphatically as they did on Saturday, sometimes your energy and adrenaline levels come naturally.
“Clearly, they’re in a great place. The business that they did in January was probably as good as anyone has done and their performances and results are showing that.”
