Imps defender Paudie O’Connor has been a mainstay of City’s defensive line so far this season and says the consistency has helped him perform better.
With an unbeaten home run in Sky Bet League One, the Irishman has contributed to clean sheets for City this season, something he takes great pride in.
He said: “For the back five or the back six with Carl behind us, it’s obviously massive for us to try and get as many clean sheets as we can this season because it’s a good platform to try to build on.
“It means you are in every game and have a good chance of getting three points. It’s a good building block and hopefully we can turn over a few more this season.
“I’ve enjoyed the start of the season and playing every game as a defender helps you a lot getting that consistency. Not knowing you’re playing, but to build on the week just gone by. So, it’s been a big plus for me and helped me over the last few weeks to get that level of consistency that I can perform each week.”
O’Connor is excited by Wembley prospects as City are playing for a place in the quarter finals in the Papa Johns Trophy on Tuesday evening.
He added: “It’s a great chance for a lot of players to maybe get that first chance to play at Wembley. It’s a good incentive to have and it’s only a few games away now, so we’ll look forward to the game tomorrow and hopefully get through to the next round.”
