Ash Foyle’s side are looking forward to being ‘underdogs’ for the FA Youth Cup third round tie.
City U18 beat Doncaster Rovers and Tranmere Rovers to make it through to the third round of the competition, which will now see the young Imps host Watford at the LNER Stadium.
He said: “It is a fixture we are really looking forward to as we have had to go through a lot to get to this point.
“We are now going to be underdogs, in the last couple of rounds the expectation has been on us a little bit.
“It relieves a bit of pressure and gives the lads a chance to really test themselves against good opposition.”
Foyle also explained that the FA Youth Cup is one of his side’s main focuses this season and that some of his players will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of some recent academy graduates with a strong display on Monday evening.
He added: “Last time we faced Watford in the FA Youth Cup players like Freddie Draper and Sean Roughan burst onto the stage and made a really good impression on the staff and the football club.
“Our lads will be hoping to do the same although it is no easy task. They are fortunate they are at a football club that the development of young players is serious business and people back them to do well."
