Phil is women's general manager

The development of Lincoln City Women has continued with the appointment of Phil Hough as the club's first general manager.

Phil has been working closely with first-team manager Lee Mitchell and his staff as preparations continue for the opening of the FAWNL Division One Midlands season on Sunday with the visit of Doncaster Rovers Belles.

He said: "Lincoln City Women have come a long way in a short space of time, and with the benefit of closer ties with the existing men's structure we hope to continue this growth and compete at the top of the table this season.

"We really hope to see a good crowd come down to the LNER Stadium on Sunday for the game against the Belles - we've enjoyed a really competitive rivalry with them on the pitch over the past few years and it's sure to be a great game."

Phil brings a wealth of experience to the role, having first joined Lincoln City as club secretary in 1980. Spells with Oldham Athletic, Northampton Town, Chesterfield, Hull City and Doncaster Rovers followed before he returned to the Imps in 2019.

He added: "As an adopted Lincolnian I am very proud to take on this extra role with the women's team on top of my existing duties as club secretary. The growth of the club over the past few years has been incredible, and now the women's team can truly be part of that journey.

"This is a very exciting time for women's football and at Lincoln City there is a lot to be positive about as we properly integrate the women's team into the football club for the first time."

City will host Doncaster Rovers Belles at the LNER Stadium this Sunday in the opening game of the FAWNL Division One Midlands season.
