Mark Kennedy believes that Carabao Cup progression is important for the club.
Kennedy’s side secured their place in the third round draw following a dramatic cup tie against Barrow at the SO Legal Stadium.
He said: “We cannot control who we get in the third round but the biggest thing coming into tonight’s game was making sure that we were into the hat for the draw.
“A big tie would be great for the club and for the fans. We are in the hat so we have an opportunity to get an attractive draw.
“I am really pleased to be in the next round of the Carabao Cup.”
The Imps found a late equaliser after going behind in the 87th minute, before winning the penalty shootout thanks to three saves from City stopper Jordan Wright.
He continued: “I thought that the character of the group was phenomenal. They never gave up, they never laid down and they kept going.
“We have actually already hit a lot of targets this season in a short space of time. Tonight is another example where we have been behind and still got something from the game.
“We came back to take it to penalties but there was still a lot to do, especially when we are away from home and with their support behind the goal.”
Information about the Carabao Cup third round draw will be confirmed by the EFL in the coming days, details of which will be published on City’s social media channels.
