City head coach Mark Kennedy says confidence is high in the squad after an unbeaten start to the season.
Draws with Exeter City and Portsmouth have followed a good first pre-season with Kennedy as head coach.
He said: “We’re very positive, it’s not just about Saturday, it is about the programme they have had since they’ve been back and the implementation of things we’re doing in training.
“I don’t judge our group over one performance: if we win 3-0 or lose 3-0 I don’t get side-tracked by results, it is about seeing things going forward and we’re really positive.”
Kennedy would love to do well in this season’s Carabao Cup, starting with Tuesday’s first-round trip to Doncaster Rovers.
He added: “We don’t view it as an interference, it is a big competition which we value and respect and we will put a team out that shows that.
“We are absolutely looking to win the game because we want to go as far as we can. We have a beautiful training ground which was financed by a great cup run, so it is a really important thing and we recognise the importance of it. We will absolutely give the competition the maximum amount of respect.”
