City youngsters Jovon Makama and Morgan Worsfold-Gregg have gone out on loan to gain first-team experience.
Makama, who spent last season at Gainsborough Trinity, will step up to the National League North with Brackley Town. He made his Imps debut in Tuesday evening’s Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers and will be eligible for Brackley’s fixture this weekend.
Midfielder Worsfold-Gregg, who also made his professional debut this week, has joined Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central side AFC Rushden & Diamonds for the rest of the season.
Director of football Jez George commented “These are two fantastic loans for our young players. We have had significant interest in Jovon from a number of clubs in step 2 following the impact that he made with Gainsborough Trinity last season.
"Brackley have been extremely successful at this level for a number of years, we know their manager and trust Kevin to help Jovon in the next stage of his development. This arrangement allows Jovon to continue training with our first team and he will be available for our Papa John’s Trophy fixtures, so that he gets the best of both worlds."
Regarding the opportunity for Worsfold-Gregg, George added: “Morgan has excelled this pre-season, which culminated in his professional debut this week at Doncaster, and we are pleased that he can continue his development at such a competitive level. This loan also gives Morgan the opportunity to play in our B team and remain in our full-time training environment.”
