Lincoln City manager Michael Appleton says he is looking forward to some tough fixtures over the remaining five games of the season.
Starting with Wigan Athletic on Saturday at the LNER Stadium, Appleton said he is eager to see his side return to their best capabilities, much like the final half an hour in the performance at Fleetwood on Tuesday.
Appleton said: “Certainly in the last 30 minutes we were outstanding. We created some brilliant chances, played some good football and got back to exactly what we’re about and while we never took our opportunities, another day we will and hopefully we saved that for Saturday.
“The games are quickly running out now. ultimately it is a good point because it takes our total to four in three days and we would have taken that no doubt about it. We’ve got some big games to look forward to and no more so than Saturday.
Two players who missed out on the draw in Lancashire were Saturday’s stand-out performers, Liam Bridcutt and Brooke Norton-Cuffy: two bodies the boss is hoping will return to the side in time for Saturday.
Appleton said: “Hopefully we will have some more information on Bridcutt later in the week. He took a knock to the thigh on Saturday so we’re hoping it’s nothing too serious and will settle down quickly.
“As for Brooke, I’m hoping he will be back by the weekend. He played three games in a short space of time for England and did well to get through 90 minutes against a tough opponent on the weekend. He’s in a really good place at the minute so if we can get him back fit then that will obviously be a bonus for us.”
