Maguire means business

Chris Maguire is looking forward to showing fans what he can do after returning to full fitness.

The summer signing from Sunderland has had an injury-hit start to life at the Imps, but is hoping to play a key role as games come thick and fast following the international break.

He said: “I’m hoping that’s now the end of it - that I can get a run of games and show people what I can do.

“It has been frustrating because when you come to a new club you always want to get off to a good start and I’ve not really started yet. I’ve had to work in the background building fitness and now I can push on and hopefully stay in the team.”

The international break came at a good time for the forward, who believes he will benefit from the focus on training away from matches.

He added: “The game being off last weekend has allowed me to get a full week’s training which will be beneficial in the long run.

“Playing football is my job at the end of the day and I want to be out there playing. Touchwood, that’s the end of it. I want to show I can be a key part of the team and help the team be successful.”
