Dan Nlundulu declared his season up and running after his first goal for the Imps set his side on their way to victory at Wigan Athletic.
His calm lob over Ben Amos opened the scoring at the DW Stadium and was the least he deserved for a performance where he never stopped running.
He said: “It’s time to really kick on - it’s nice to get my first goal for the team and for me the loan starts now.
“I felt I had a point to prove and feel like I did my job. The gaffer told me to make runs behind and that’s what I did, I made those runs behind and I got my chance - When you work hard things will come your way, that’s how it works.”
Nlundulu is pleased to have another game so soon, with Shrewsbury Town visiting the LNER Stadium on Saturday.
He added: “Games in this league come thick and fast. I’ll enjoy this win with the family, but come Saturday it’s forgotten about.
“The gaffer’s already saying in the changing room that this game is forgotten abut and we’ve got to go again on Saturday and get three points. That’s the mentality we have as a team, to keep going and keep working hard - and who knows what could happen this season.”
