The Imps can announce that Lewis Fiorini has joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Premier League Champions, Manchester City.
The talented 19-year-old midfielder becomes the first signing of the summer after securing a new five-year contract with the Citizens.
Fiorini has been with Manchester City since he was 6 years old and spent last season on loan with NAC Breda where he impressed in their play-off campaign. The box-to-box midfielder chipped in with a number of key goals and assists for the Dutch side who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Eredivisie.
Lewis Fiorini was delighted to get going at Lincoln City, “I’ve spoken with the manager, and he’s shown me some of the young talent that he’s worked with over the years. His plans along with Lincoln’s ideas really seem to suit me and I cannot wait to get going.
“Last year was my first season in professional football and I managed to settle down, break into the team and scored a few good goals too. I’m hoping to carry that on this season with Lincoln.”
Lewis also spoke with Morgan Rogers prior to making the switch to LNER Stadium adding, “I’ve spoken to Morgan throughout the summer and as recently as yesterday. He was extremely complimentary about the club, he loved his time here, and only had good things to say.
“I’ve watched numerous Lincoln games and kept my eye out for Morgan last season. I remember the play-off semi-final match here against Sunderland and the place was rocking. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans.”
Lewis will join up with Michael Appleton’s squad for pre-season training this week ahead of the Sky Bet League One campaign.
Welcome, Lewis. #ImpsAsOne
