Scully says confidence is high for Oxford trip

Anthony Scully says confidence is high in the Imps squad after victory over Manchester United U21s.

The forward’s hat-trick sealed a 3-2 victory to send his side top of Group F in the Papa John’s Trophy and ensure there is plenty of belief among the players ahead of Saturday’s trip to Oxford United.

He said: “It was a good performance from the lads, we created lots of chances and could have had two or three more goals. It was good to keep hitting the back of the net, hopefully the goals will come now for us.

“A few people who needed a rest got it, those who needed minutes got it, and we’re all really looking forward to Saturday now.”

Scully revealed that his substitution - he was replaced by debutant Billy Brooks with 10 minutes to go - was precautionary.

He added: “I just tightened up with a little bit of cramp and I wanted to get off as soon as I could and didn’t want to take any risks. There’s no issues though.”
