210430 Imps Join Social Media Boycott

The Imps will unite alongside the Premier League, EFL, FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship in switching off Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts from 3pm on Friday 30th April to 11:59pm on Monday 3rd May.

The boycott shows English football coming together to emphasise that social media companies must do more to eradicate online hate, whilst highlighting the importance of educating people in the ongoing fight against discrimination.

Lincoln City staff and players will also join the collective stance and support the boycott. We firmly believe that online abuse should not be tolerated and cannot continue.

Chief Executive Officer, Liam Scully said: “Despite some positive steps and monitoring improvements, harmful content remains widespread online.”

“This undermines our democratic values, risks the safety and wellbeing of children, vulnerable people and ultimately reduces online participation, particularly from high-profile role models who deserve our support.”

“We understand that the difficulties faced will not disappear instantly, however we hope this can play a significant part in eradicating all forms of discrimination on social media.”
