200927-BrennanCharlton

Brennan Johnson was pleased to be able to make his debut for The Imps after coming on as a second half substitute in the win over Charlton Athletic

The loan signing from Nottingham Forest, who joined the club on Friday watched the first half from the bench, but said the opening goal was deserved for the hard work the team had put in and wouldn’t be drawn on the debate on the circumstances in which it came.

“It all happened so quickly, it’s not my job to say what was right or wrong but it was a goal. I think the boys dug in really well and I think they deserved it.”

The Imps’ new number 20 said he was chomping at the bit to get out onto the pitch at LNER Stadium and following his first 48 hours in the colours of City he’s happy to be involved no matter what position he is asked to play.

“I trained on Friday with the boys who didn’t play against Liverpool then had my first session yesterday with the full team. So, I’m still getting to know them but after playing now with them and seeing how hard they work, it’s a really good setup.

Brennan continued: “It was good to get out there and feel the pace of the game, they’re a good team. It was hard work, but I just want to get out there and work hard for the team. I think the way the manager wants me to play, I can be really versatile for the team. Jorge plays in a similar position but he can play out wide, or playing in a midfield three, I’m happy doing either so I think it’s going to work well.”
