After confirming the signing of young attacker Brennan Johnson on loan from Nottingham Forest this afternoon, The Imps’ manager Michael Appleton is looking forward to working with the 19-year-old who he says has a bright future in the game.

Over the past few weeks Michael has been speaking of a potential signing coming into LNER Stadium and now the deal is completed, he says that he’s keen to see the youngster develop with The Imps.

But Michael admits that patience has been a virtue in sealing the deal to bring Brennan to the club, but he is delighted to get his man who had always been on his radar when plans were put in place earlier in the summer for the long season ahead.

“We’ve had to wait a long time for Brennan, he’s always been a target.  That’s why we were so patient and that’s why we’re so happy we’ve got him now.”

“We’re delighted, as you’re probably aware as we’ve made it pretty public and people have been trying to guess about a potential striker coming in for numerous weeks now and we’re delighted to get it over the line.” Michael said.

“He has massive potential and Forest see that, he can play in numerous roles. He can play as a (number) nine, as a ten and we’ve seen him play as an eight at Forest too which is good as well. He can adapt to playing in different positions and different types of styles. I think the most important thing for him is to get games and I think Forest realise that and have been fantastic with us.”
