Following a successful trial in pre-season, Remy Howarth has signed a one-year contract with The Imps.
The energetic attacking midfielder spent last season with Cefn Druids, attracting interest from a number of clubs. The Imps were then kindly granted permission by the Welsh club for Remy to travel to Lincolnshire to take part in pre-season training with Michael Appleton’s squad.
After featuring in a number of the pre-season fixtures in a City shirt, culminating in a goal in a behind closed doors friendly against Nottingham Forest U23’s earlier this week, Remy earned himself a permanent move to LNER Stadium.
Remy began his career with Blackburn Rovers, featuring for their youth team and was part of the side which got to the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup. He then gained experience out on loan at non-league level, before first sealing a move to Ashton United and then taking his career into the Welsh Premier League.
Michael Appleton has been delighted with the attitude and application shown by Remy since he arrived for his trial, which led to the signing:
"I watched a couple of games and then invited him in for pre-season, he came in and from day one you wouldn’t think he would be a trialist. He has done ever so well in training and games; he has made an impact and is already part of the squad."It is the first time in a long time I have seen a player who is so excited to sign for a club, he was like a kid in a candy shop. You don’t see that often and he will be a very good addition."
Once again, Lincoln City would like to thank Cefn Druids for their help in allowing us to give Remy this opportunity.
He will wear the number 17 shirt and goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie at Crewe, pending international clearance.
Welcome to The Imps, Remy.
