The City boss explained that his squad are prepared for Saturday’s game following 18 days away from league action.
Lincoln secured two cup victories in that time though with a 6-2 FA Cup First Round win over Forest Green Rovers as well as a penalty shootout victory against Man City U21’s at LNER Stadium on Tuesday.
“We are looking forward to tomorrow, we’ve had some good cup victories in the build-up, and we feel refreshed for the game,” explained Michael.
“We have done some really good work on the training field and there have been some very detailed training sessions during the last few weeks which have really helped the side in a similar way to how they did in pre-season.”
The Imps manager turned his attention to John Coleman’s side, speaking highly of the job he has done at the Wham Stadium.
“John has done really well at Accrington and they have a real togetherness,” said Appleton.
“They have over 30 players in the squad which is a good way to be equipped. They play without fear, there is freedom there for them to win games, so it will be a tough test for us tomorrow.
“They have won six out of their nine games; they clearly have a squad with a wealth of experience at this level.
“The first goal of the game could be crucial; it is a game where we will have to be on it.”
Michael finished by discussing the schedule his side have ahead of them over the winter period: “We have something like 10 games in 31 days so it will be a busy time for us, preparing for that is key to keeping everyone fresh.
“We have a good group here and we are excited because there is nothing better than playing games.”
