200207 preview rotherham

The Imps host SkyBet League One leaders Rotherham United at LNER Stadium this evening.

The reverse fixture saw City run out 2-0 winners at AESSEAL New York Stadium on the second matchday of the season. A Shaun MacDonald own goal and Harry Anderson second-half header ensured the Imps took maximum points from their first two games of the SkyBet League One campaign.

Recent Form

The Millers come into this one following a 3-2 home win over Burton Albion at the beginning of the month. In their previous fixture they overcame fellow promotion challengers Ipswich Town 1-0 at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Tonight's visitors are top of the SkyBet League One table, three points ahead of Wycombe Wanderers and four points clear of Peterborough United with a game in hand.

Manager’s Comments

Millers manager Paul Warne is looking forward to this one following their win at home to Burton: “I like night games. Unfortunately last time we went to Lincoln we got tucked up a treat so I’m hoping for a better performance.

“They’ve had a new manager in there for a while now, but they signed a few last month. The way he wants to play takes a little bit of time, but they’ve had some good results. I think their home atmosphere is really good and their fans will be right behind their team.

“We’re taking a good following as well, so I’m expecting a real humdinger of a game. Both teams play similar shapes so it should be a game that goes to the final whistle.”
