The Imps can confirm that Timothy ‘TJ’ Eyoma has re-joined the club on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The young right back who can also play centre back, made his competitive debut for Spurs in the Emirates FA Cup against Tranmere Rovers last season. The 20-year-old has also appeared on the bench for Tottenham in the Premier League on a number of occasions.
TJ has featured for England at youth level up to Under-19s. It was during his time with the Under-17 setup where he won the 2017 FIFA World Cup as well as reaching the UEFA European Under-17 Championship final.
On his return to the LNER Stadium TJ said, “I’m delighted to return. I learnt a lot last season despite not playing, and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to come here again.”
He also spoke about the prospect of working with Imps Manager Michael Appleton again which played a big part in his return to the Imps. “Michael likes to develop young players, and this is a reason why I wanted to return. I feel like I’ll play games which will develop me further as a player, and hopefully my ability can contribute towards the team. I can’t wait to get going.”
Michael Appleton spoke of TJ’s return, “We are delighted to have TJ back with us. He was very unfortunate not to get some game time before we had to stop due to the pandemic. He’s a very strong and aggressive athlete, but also very comfortable on the ball. He’ll be a great addition to the squad.”
