191129-FoundationMarathon

Lincoln City Foundation are opening registrations for their first half marathon event from Monday 2nd December.

The community focused charity and their award-winning event partner Curly’s Athletes have planned a city focused route which will take in open green spaces, the historic north and the under celebrated south of the city and allow runners to experience the diversity of Lincoln.

The event which is due to take place on Sunday 20 September 2020 has seen more than 1000 pre-registrations since its launch earlier this year.

Charlotte Hornsby, Operations Manager at Lincoln City Foundation said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest in our event, not only from those wanting to run, but offers of volunteers and from businesses wanting to support.

“We are thrilled to announce that the route start and end points will be around the Boultham Park area, home to Lincoln parkrun, with the remainder of the 13.1-mile route featuring a number of Lincoln landmarks throughout the city.

“Lincoln City Foundation are proud to have the opportunity to bring such an inclusive event to the city of Lincoln. We hope to inspire people to get active and improve their physical, social and mental wellbeing.”

When participants register their place at the start line, they will be given options to fundraise for the Foundation and a chance support the charity’s Downs Syndrome Football Team (DS Active).
