In January, City’s under 12’s will make their first ever trip overseas to participate in a prestigious tournament against some of the biggest teams in Europe.

40 teams from across the continent will go head to head early next year in a two-day tournament in the North Rhine-Westfalia district of Germany, teams from Bayern Munich, Schalke, PSV Eindhoven, Everton, West Ham United and Crystal Palace amongst others will take part in the indoor five a side tournament.

As well as Bayern, City will also take on one of the host clubs, TSV Lüdenscheid along with St Pauli and Kickers Offenbach in the group stages on the 11th January with the quarter final, semi-final and final being held the following day.

Eight groups of five teams will compete in the tournament and City’s youngsters have been drawn alongside one of Europe’s greats, Bayern Munich, in the group stages and The Imps Academy Manager, Jordan McCann says it’s going to be a valuable experience for all involved.

"Everyone within the Academy is excited and really looking forward to our first trip into Europe. For our young players to be able to experience a different country and culture whilst competing against some of the biggest clubs in the continent further outlines our commitment and drive to provide a truly outstanding holistic development programme at Lincoln City Football Club."
