Michael Appleton has hailed the reaction of Jorge Grant in training this week following his early exit from Saturday's draw at AFC Wimbledon in Sky Bet League One.
Grant was replaced at half-time for Jake Hesketh, but Appleton has been delighted with the application of the summer signing in the training sessions that have followed.
"There has been a reaction and a positive one," he said.
"His running stats were as high as I’ve seen while I’ve been at the club on Tuesday.
"On Tuesday it was more than anyone in the team and that says it all for me."
Grant leads the assist rankings for the Imps so far this campaign, and Appleton is hoping that the 24-year-old can continue his development throughout the season.
"There’s no doubt about his talent and ability, but there’s parts of the game that you have to do for the sake of the team, and it’s not just when you’re on the ball."
"He’s young and he’s learning, he will get better and he wants to get better."
Jorge will be hoping to retain his place in City's starting line-up as the Imps travel to Ipswich Town in the Emirates FA Cup this weekend. Tickets are on sale here.
