The Imps have made the first signing of the summer as midfielder Joe Morrell joins on a season-long loan deal from Bristol City.
The 22-year-old has starred and captained Wales across youth levels, making a number of appearances at U17, U19 and U21 levels.
After signing for Bristol City as a 15-year-old in 2012, Morrell made his first team debut as a 16-year-old the following year in the EFL Trophy.
Morrell made 37 appearances while on loan at Cheltenham Town, before making several appearances last season for Bristol City, including three in the FA Cup, and starting in the home tie against Wolves.
“I am really excited to be here, it’s a club with a lot of upwards momentum,” The Ipswich-born midfielder said.
“It’s brilliant to get it sorted so early into the pre-season stages, so I can get to know the surroundings and the team, and they can get to know me.
“It’s a club with a lot of great feeling about it. As soon as I heard about the interest, it was a move I was very interested in and I’m pleased to be here.”
Joe will join the side ahead of pre-season, with City’s first home pre-season fixture at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, 13th July. Click HERE for tickets.
