Lincoln City Under-18s will travel to Harrowby United on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3.30pm) to face the hosts in the final of the inaugural South Kesteven Charity Cup.
The young Imps defeated Bourne Town 3-1 in their semi-final, thanks to goals from Ted Gibbons, Max Gee and Ben Sault, while Harrowby United caused an upset as they defeated Grantham Town on penalties.
This Saturday’s Charity Cup final at Harrowby United will be supporters’ first chance to see the new intake of Academy players ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Lead PDP coach, Tom Shaw said: “It will be a tough test for us, but we are treating it like another pre-season game by trying to get some fitness and learning into the players, but it’s always nice for the lads to be involved in a cup final with perhaps a little bit more on the game.
“I know the first team are away this week, so any fans that want to come and have a look at the new lads and the second-year scholars would be great to cheer the lads on.”
The Under-18s also faced a tough test against Southern League side Yaxley Town on Tuesday evening, falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat.
“The two fixtures gave the lads physical and psychological tests against some big players who have been around the step two and three of Non-League for a number of years,” Shaw added.
“For our boys, who were predominantly 16 years of age, to go up against that was a real test and gave them something different to what they will face in the Youth Alliance this season.
“The boys had to move the ball really quickly, as both teams were keen to get in and around our lads, we had to stand up to that test and I thought we did in both fixtures.”
Saturday’s South Kesteven Charity Cup Final will kick-off at 3.30pm, with tickets priced at £5 for Adults, and are available to purchase at the gate.
