Danny Cowley has made his second signing of the week, by bringing Jorge Grant to Sincil Bank from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee. The former Forest academy graduate finally linked up with the City boss who has been trying to acquire the services of Jorge for quite some time.

“We’re delighted to have signed Jorge, and thankful to Nottingham Forest for allowing it to happen, for them to trust us to take Jorge and continue his pathway. He’s someone who we’ve tried to sign in many transfer windows. He’s been at Nottingham Forest for a long time, they trust us to create the right environment and culture for him and if he continues to develop and realise the potential that he’s got then I think everybody wins.

Danny joked about the fee being undisclosed however, the City manager is delighted to bring Jorge to the club and says that after a possibly frustrating finish to the last campaign, Jorge will use that to fuel his fire for the season ahead.

“Yes, this is football it’s an undisclosed fee, we’re not allowed to disclose anything, we’ll be undisclosing the players names next!  I don’t know how we’re going to keep them entertained and engaged but such is football!!”

“If we do well as a team, and Jorge does well then there’s some money going to Nottingham Forest and obviously if Jorge does well then, he’ll be delighted and so will we. So, it’s a great signing, he’s a boy at a great age, he’s really, really talented. He scored 20 goals for Notts County when they had their fantastic season the year before last, and he had a great spell at Luton which was cut short through injury and then probably had a frustrating spell at Mansfield after starting well there.”

Danny continued: “We get him at a good time, he was frustrated with the way his season ended and has a point to prove, like I’ve said before we like having players who have a point to prove, if they have a point to prove, it can be really powerful. We’re pleased to have him with us, he’s got fantastic numbers when you consider the players that play in his positions or his peers that were available to us. You look at his goals scored and his goal creation, his numbers stack up significantly better than the players in and around him so we’re really really pleased to be able to work with him.”

“We think there are areas to his game that we can add to as well and again, we look at us from last year and there was some good stuff but definitely we could be a little more creative and tactically intelligent in the final third, so he will be able to add more (creativity) to what already is a really good team.”

The chance to see Jorge on home soil at Sincil Bank for the first time, could be against Sheffield Wednesday next weekend, tickets are still available for the game against The Owls and can be purchased HERE
