Danny Cowley was thrilled with the impact recent signing Danny Rowe had on the startling line-up following his brace in the 2-0 victory at Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old made his first start since returning on loan for the remainder of the season from Ipswich Town, and managed to score the two decisive goals to extend City's unbeaten start to Sky Bet League Two in 2019.
Imps fans would be familiar to seeing Rowe start on either flank, but the former Macclesfield Town man started behind John Akinde at Huish Park.
"Dan's got all the attributes to be a number 10, he's got good game understanding and he knows how to find his space," Cowley said.
"We know that if we can get in behind the opposition midfield, then he can cause them problems."
Rowe's exceptionally timed runs allowed him to get on the end of inch-perfect balls from Neal Eardley and Michael O'Connor to score twice in the first half.
"The first one is great ball from Neal Eardley after a great run from Harry and a great run and finish by Danny Rowe," Danny added.
"The second one was a really well worked goal. It's a brilliant run by Tom Pett, he opens up the lane for Michael O'Connor to find Rowey and Danny Rowe does what Danny Rowe does best."
Fellow January signing Cian Bolger started alongside Jason Shackell for the first time following Shackell's return from suspension.
Danny was delighted with the way the pair worked together, as Bostwick moved forward into a midfield role.
"They were flawless and exceptional. They didn't allow Yeovil to get into our box on many occasions, let alone get shots at goal.
"We were really mature and measured in our performance and were able to keep them at arms length for the majority of the game."
The clean sheet ensures consecutive shut-outs, which is the first time City have achieved that this season.
"The only criticism I'd have is that we didn't find a third or a fourth, because we certainly had the chances to in the second half," Danny said.
"It would have been nice to put it to bed, but if you can't do that, then keep a clean sheet, which we managed to do."
The Imps will be looking to make it three straight victories with a trip to Bury on Saturday (kick-off 5.30pm).
