Danny Cowley has discussed the challenges Lincoln City will face on Saturday (kick-off 12:30pm) when the Imps meet Doncaster Rovers in SkyBet League One action.
City suffered their first defeat of the season against MK Dons losing 2-1 on Tuesday night with Tyler Walker scoring Lincoln’s only goal.
The Imps boss discussed Tuesday’s match saying: “We moved the ball quickly and dominated it, we just couldn’t find the final action and sometimes you have to praise the opponents and MK made it difficult for us.
“We were pleased with our box to box performance on Tuesday but we need to improve those three poor moments we had defensively. Offensively we had a lot of chances but only scored on goal, they are all areas we can improve on.”
Danny’s attention quickly moved to Saturday’s clash where he praised Doncaster’s recent performances under Darren Moore: “They are a very good team, we enjoyed watching them at the back end of last season and they were very good under Grant McCann.
“Darren Moore has now taken over and they are playing an attractive way, we watched them recently and they have managed to show a number of qualities throughout the game.
“They have had a free week which is a significant difference and it will be tough for us because we have to match them physically and mentally.
“We want to know what weapons they have, if they have bazookas or water pistols, so we can prepare for that.”
Cowley continued by adding a rallying call to the Lincoln supporters saying: “We know how much this football club means to the local community.
“Their support shows how much they believe in the players and the team. We will need them behind us to drive our energy after Tuesday and we are fortunate we have their support on Saturday at Doncaster.”
The Imps boss finished by speaking about having two of his first-team players called up to international duty with the Wales senior and U21 squad.
“We are delighted for both Aaron (Lewis) and Joe (Morrell) for their call ups to play for their country,” said Danny.
“For Joe to be called up to the full squad is an amazing achievement, his family are very proud. We are sad to lose them but we are also very pleased for them to gain that experience.
“It is good to get that recognition because it means they are doing well. I am more and more impressed by Aaron for his hard work since arriving here.”
