Danny Cowley said his players are looking forward to today’s game with the possibility of earning the title of League Two Champions. That opportunity is something that everyone around the squad is aware of, but they are also aware that Playoff chasing Carlisle United are going to be a very tough nut to crack.

“Lots of teams get promotions but not as many get the chance to be Champions, for us as a club I think it’s 43 years since we were able to win a Championship in the Football League and I think in the group no one has won one in the League.” Danny said.

“We’ve got players who’ve won Championships in the National League and lower, it’s great opportunity but we understand how tough it’s going to be.”

A 180+ mile trip to Brunton Park may be one which could be a journey too far for some, but with over 2,000 tickets sold to City’ supporters ahead of kick off, it’s not surprising to the manager who is ever thankful for their continued and unrelenting backing of the Imps.

“To bring over 2,000 to Carlisle is a brilliant effort, and it’s been like it all season and they’ve been a credit to the Football Club. They know what part they’ve played on this journey and we’re two miles from the finish and after last week when we got promoted, we now want to get our heads down and win the league.”
