Tomorrow ahead of the game against MK Dons, The Imps team will be led out by a very special guest.
Tim Smith, a lifelong City fan, is to walk out with the players ahead of the game this weekend after being asked to lead out the teams by members of The Imps’ squad.
After recently being contacted by our charity partner, St Barnabas Hospice, the football club were informed by staff at the hospice who have been caring for Tim, about his wishes and what is important to him during what has been a difficult time for him and his family as part of his advance care plan. Tim expressed that he would like to meet Danny Cowley and as a result he was invited to Thursday’s pre-match press call.
It was at the press conference that City trio, Harry Toffolo, Grant Smith and club Captain, Lee Frecklington were to surprise Tim by asking if he would accept a request from all the team for him to lead the team onto the field ahead of the game against MK Dons on Saturday. A delighted Tim, gladly accepted and shortly after the rest of the squad came in to meet Tim, his wife Judith and their son, Ryan along with family friend Ian and Tim’s nurse, Mary.
Following the conclusion of the conference, Imps’ manager, Danny Cowley stayed to speak to Tim and was delighted to hear that they will be at Sincil Bank this weekend to watch the Imps before inviting him to meet the players in the dressing room ahead of kick off.
On behalf of everyone at Lincoln City Football Club, we ask if you would please give Tim a huge round of applause as he leads out the teams at Sincil Bank on Saturday afternoon.
