180921-Luque

Imps’ midfielder Joan Luque has today joined National League side, Bromley.

The 26-year-old, who has featured three times for City to date and scoring one goal since his summer move from Heybridge Swifts, joins The Ravens in a temporary switch after signing a short-term loan deal at Hayes Lane.

Luque joins up with his new teammates today and Danny Cowley revealed he is keen for his player to get more minutes on the grass. The City boss said that the more experience Luque gets, can only be of a benefit to both the Football Club and the player in both the short and long term:

“The plan is for him to play some games, he’s come into the club and done great, he’s a boy with top end quality who can score goals and create goals. But he needs to play, and with the team playing so well his chances have been limited and we want to make sure he has a run of games.” Cowley said.

“In the short term as I say, it’s about getting him a run of games. Bromley are a really good club, they have an excellent manager and they know about Joan Luque, they know the type of player he is so we expect him to go there and do really well.

“For all of our players, you never want them to spend too long out of the team because if they do, they lose their match fitness and when the opportunity does come for them, they’re not quite fit to take it. It’s trying to find a healthy balance, we’re always player centred and looking for the right pathway for our players.”
