Imps fans registered at Portland Medical Practice in Lincoln will be able to have their flu jab at Sincil Bank before our game against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
The Sport & Education Trust have developed a relationship to encourage those fans eligible to take advantage of this location.
A doctor and nurse from the practice will be in attendance in the Sport & Education Trust Office between 12pm and 1pm to administer the jab.
Dr Sunil Hindocha, chief clinical officer at NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group and partner at Portland Medical Practice, said the simple vaccination is the easiest way to protect against flu this winter.
He said: “The flu vaccination is quick and easy to have.
“Getting the flu is not just getting a cold. It can seriously affect your health and the risk of developing complications are greater for people within the ‘at-risk’ groups.
“These include people aged 65 or over, pregnant women, carers and people aged under 65 with a long term condition such as diabetes or heart disease.
“Healthy individuals can usually recover within a week. For some it can lead to a stay in hospital, permanent disability or even death.
“It can also be serious for young children, who can be protected from flu with a simple nasal spray. It is free, fast and painless.
“The more people who choose to have the vaccination, the less likely it is for flu to spread. Getting vaccinated will not only help protect you, but it may help stop the spread of flu more widely.”
Portland patients can book their slot to have the jab at Sincil Bank by contacting the practice. Slots will be available on a walk-in basis too.
Paul Hamnett, Head of Community said: “We would encourage any fans attending Saturday’s match who are registered at Portland Medical Practice to get their flu jab while at the game. We are working closely with Portland Medical Practice and the Clinical Commissioning Group to raise the profile of this important season and we are enabling an opportunity but hope to extend in the future.”
“Other GP practices will also be running flu clinics. Speak to a member of your practice team and they will be able to tell you when you can have the jab.”
