Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust (LCFCSET) and City of Lincoln Council (COLC) has been selected to take part in the first phase of a £4.5m fund for local social action launched by the Big Lottery Fund and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The partnership is one of the twenty successful bidders nationwide.

The Place Based Social Action programme aims to support communities to put social action at the heart of plans which make a positive difference in the local area. It gives people the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the design and delivery of local services by bringing together communities, local authorities, public sector organisations, service providers, civil society organisations and businesses to address local priorities

During the first phase of the programme, which runs until the end of 2018, the 20 partnerships will work with Locality, the national network for community organisations, to design local social action plans.

The partnership aims to work collaboratively with communities in designing the local plan, using the community organising approach. LCFCSET is a locally rooted charity, which has a successful track record of working with local people, mobilising and supporting residents to address issues that matter to them.

In January 2019, the partnership may be eligible for a funding award of up to £240,000 for three years to put these plans into action. Partnerships that want to develop and expand their plan for a further three years may be eligible for a further funding award of up to £255,000 in early 2021.

Paul Hamnett, Head of Community, LCFCSET said:” We were thrilled to be shortlisted amongst only 20 partnerships across the county. This is a great opportunity for the local authority, our charity and local residents to come together, build strong, sustainable partnership and drive the change. This success is our commitment to local people.”

Paul Carrick, Neighbourhood Manager, City of Lincoln Council is “delighted that Sincil Bank has the opportunity to be part of this programme. The existing partnership has a really good understanding of community priorities and is now keen to support resident led social action”.
