The Imps are delighted to announce the signing of John Akinde on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Barnet.
Akinde has scored 25 or more goals in three of his last four seasons, totalling 89 goals in 162 outings, as he becomes the Imps' fifth summer signing.
The forward has had previous spells with Bristol City and Portsmouth, and arrived at Barnet in the summer of 2014 following a successful season in the National League with Alfreton Town, where he scored 18 times in the league.
"It is never easy to sign a player with this type of goalscoring record and John is unique in also possessing all of the qualities that we were looking for in a centre forward," Danny Cowley said.
"He will also compliment our current triumvirate of Matt Rhead, Matt Green and Bruno Andrade.
"This is a big signing for Lincoln City but also a really important decision for John, so we are delighted that he feels his ambitions can be realised at Sincil Bank."
Danny also revealed his delight that the 28-year-old saw his future with the Imps.
"There has been significant investment from several clubs already this transfer window and we anticipate a really competitive division this season," he added.
"Therefore, we are really pleased to have completed this signing as we put the finishing touches to our squad for the coming season."
John and his family will be relocating to Lincoln, and Danny reiterated that it is important that we are able to help him settle into the city and the club.
"John has a young family and a major part of the process of signing John has been to ensure that we help him and his family relocate and ensure they are all able to settle in Lincoln.
"This duty of care is important whenever we bring a player to the club."
John will be introduced to our supporters on Tuesday against Norwich City, with tickets still available for the fixture. Click HERE to come and see the Imps' latest recruits in action.
